Abstract
In this paper we discuss the analysis, the modeling and the control of a small autonomous wind turbine with variable speed in order to use it in an isolated site. First of all; on the basis of the experimental tests; we characterized and modeled a small wind turbine with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator PMSG and an internal rectifier. Second, on the one hand, we have proposed a numeric control "Perturb and Observe" (P&O) in order to work at various wind speeds and to optimize the power generated by the wind turbine, and on the other hand we have controlled the flow of the transmitted power. The formal model of the generator has been validated, and the results of the different simulations of the whole conversion chain using the environment MATLAB/Simulink, allowed us to evaluate the performance of the suggested system.
