Abstract
The development of renewable energy, and more especially regarding wind turbines, may be blocked because of radar objections. Besides undeniable situations, there exist many cases where either the potential impact is not well known, or where a possible mitigation cannot be correctly assessed. In such situations, the precautionary principle prevails, and the project is rejected. This paper presents current advances on impact prediction tools and mitigation solutions which contribute to solve such issues. It also highlights the need for a methodology implying all stakeholders around a fair, transparent and pragmatic approach of performance assessment, and proposes some ways in this perspective.
