Abstract :
Some techniques for actualizing smart antenna hardware are described. First, a design of the radiation part is described including an antenna configuration that is suitable for a street microcell, which considers the propagation environment. Then, in calibrating the transmitters and receivers, an automatic calibration method using a transmitting signal (ACT) is presented, which enables real-time calibration. Finally, for improving the synchronization performance, a novel smart antenna configuration is presented that is particularly suited to high data-rate wireless systems.
