Abstract :
Modeling and simulation of Ethernet´s underlying protocol is an important method of the comprehensive evaluation and network optimization. At present a large amount of simulation and modeling of the existing MAC protocols are based on traditional CSMA/CD protocol. Currently not so much attention is paid to adaptive MAC protocol. This paper proposes a new adaptive protocol algorithm of p-persistent CSMA/CD. The improved protocol makes dynamic adjustment to the parameters that have an effect on the performance of the protocol. Based on OPNET, comparisons are made between the improved and the traditional CSMA/CD. Experimental results show that the improved adaptive p-persistent CSMA/CD can eliminate jitter effectively, reduce the delay of sending by up to 57% and the queuing delay by 22%.
