Abstract
A pulse-radiating bow-tie antenna with enhanced electric-field focusing property in the near field is studied. The focusing property is achieved by placing an ellipsoid reflector around the bow-tie antenna. A section of microstrip reflection line combined with a photoconductive semiconductor switches is designed as a source to generate a short pulse for antenna excitation. In simulations, the surrounding circumstance between the bow-tie antenna and the ellipsoid reflector is modeled as water to match with the real cellular environment. Results show that the electric field intensities of the proposed parabolic reflector antenna at 16 cm and 31cm from the radiating antenna are 1.5 v/m and 0.8 v/m, respectively, which is several times higher than that without the reflector. This merit makes the proposed antenna more suitable for cancer treatment.
