Abstract :
The multi-antenna configurations used in MIMO (multi-input multi-output) system can greatly improve the transmission reliability and channel capacity. Antenna selection technique can reduce the implementation complexity and hardware cost while maintaining the advantages of MIMO system. Aiming at selecting the optimal antenna subset quickly in the changeable channel environment, a binary particle swarm optimization (BPSO) based method is proposed for joint transmit and receive antenna selection. By combining the channel capacity with binary coded string as the objective function of PSO, the joint MIMO antenna selection issue is formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem. Extensive Monte-Carlo simulations results show that BPSO greatly reduces computational complexity and nearly achieves the optimal performance as the exhaustive selection algorithm.
