Abstract
This paper focuses on analyzing the system frequency problem which occurs due to large-scale integration of PV power generation into a smart grid network. Due to the intermittency of PV power generation, the real power generation of solar PV can decrease drastically within a short period. A smart grid system frequency model is developed in this paper to analyze the system frequency problem. Simulation studies are conducted in Matlab/Simulink to analyze the response of the system frequency of a smart grid network. Possible solutions using storage batteries (SBs) and demand response are also proposed and investigated in the simulation studies.
