Abstract
Input circuits of the general balance method for partial discharge (PD) measurement are two parallel circuits of resistance and capacitance. There are many disadvantages with this measuring circuit and it is difficult to spread its use into the HV and UHV domain. The measurement principle of SFBM with input circuits of inductance and capacitance for PD detection is analyzed in detail in this paper. It is shown by a simulated test that under the fixed center frequency of measurement, innumerable balance points exist in the adjustable range of tuned capacitors. The pivotal part of SFBM for PDs is the use of a narrow wide band filter and amplifier (NWBFA). The rejection of interference is decided by the NWBFA
