Abstract :
Partial Discharge (PD) and breakdown voltage measurements are very effective methodes in monitoring and diagnosing the condition of insulation of a high voltage equipment. There are many methods in measuring PD in liquid insulation, one of them is by making use of RC Detector. In this research the system scheme and the technique of measuring PD using this method will be presented. The cases that become the focus of the research are PD activity and the breakdown voltage of mineral oil under lightning impulse stress. The waveform of lightning impulse voltage is set according to the IEC standard. The PD activity and the breakdown voltage on samples receiving different impulse ageing are compared.
