Abstract :
In this paper is presented the performance expectation using HILS (Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) system developed for the performance evaluation of the ship´s propulsion drive system applying electric motors. Normally ship´s propulsion system is core equipment and requires high level of reliability. The result from Simulink SILS (Software-In the-Loop Simulation) and the result from HILS implemented in FPGA based computing platforms are compared to verify the accuracy of the simulation. Using proven HILS, the basic performance of the ship propulsion motor system is predicted and the system response characteristics of various transient conditions are reviewed.
