Trends, technical and regulatory issues, and standardization concerning commercialization of wireless power transfer technologies

Wireless power transfer/transmission (WPT) is one of the key technologies expected to lead to the emergence of new business fields in the near future. In order to realize new products using WPT technologies and expand their markets, regulatory issues concerning their commercialization should be resolved, such as new regulation for WPT systems, international collaboration for the assignment of WPT frequencies and standardization. This paper describes trends of WPT commercialization, status of regulatory problems and standardization.
