Abstract :
A novel low radar cross-section (RCS) bilateral vivaldi antenna is proposed in this paper. By using modified metal radiator and PBG (Photonic Band Gap) structure applied to the substrate, the monostatic RCS peaks of the proposed antenna are efficiently controlled almost over the whole operating frequency band. Compared with traditional vivaldi antenna, the proposed antenna achieves considerable RCS reduction while maintaining the radiation performance. Simulated and measured results about VSWR and RCS are presented. As a result, the presented low RCS design method is validated effective for the vivaldi antenna.
