Abstract
This paper investigates the transmission properties of multi-layer split-ring resonators (SRRs) in which the plasmon hybridization occurs. When the interlayer distance becomes very small, SRRs interfere with each other. As a result, the LC resonance of the SRRs splits into a symmetric and an antisymmetric eigenmodes. The two eigenmodes have different energy levels and therefore two resonance peaks associated with the modes are observed at two different frequencies in transmission characteristics. We show that the frequency difference between the two eigenmodes depends on the interlayer distance and the gaps of SRRs. This indicates the effectiveness of using the plasmon hybridization phenomena of multilayer SRRs in designing SRR transmission spectra.
