Abstract :
This paper presents the state of the art in microwave PAs of the class-S type which employ binary pulse patterns and thus pave the way towards the fully digital transmitter for the wireless infrastructure. Recent advances in GaN-based power switching MMICs and the relevant coding schemes are reported. This includes latest results on voltage-mode PAs, a dual-band version and a digital Doherty transmitter.
