  • Abstract
In this paper, we propose a cooperative back-off scheme to realize simultaneous transmission based on Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA). Since wireless transmission usually suffers from lower throughput if interference occurs, transmitters tend to avoid frame collisions. We aim to realize simultaneous transmission and achieve higher throughput. The proposed scheme uses a phenomenon called “capture effect” to realize simultaneous transmission. When Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SIR) is fully achieved in a receiver, the transmission is successful. This phenomenon is the capture effect. Transmitters adjust the own back-off value. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieve 43% higher user throughput while coexisting with the conventional scheme.
