  • Abstract
    Metamaterial-based (MTM) zeroth-order resonant (ZOR) antennas (DNG: Double Negative, ENG: Epsilon Negative, MNG: Mu Negative) are examined based on simple equivalent circuits. Relevant design equations for them are provided in closed-form expressions. It is shown that the short-/open-terminated MNG/ENG ZOR antennas are practically identical to the short-/open-terminated DNG ZOR antennas, respectively. In addition, a compact MIMO antenna system consisting of the ENG and MNG structures is evaluated to be quite competitive to others in size, radiation efficiency, isolation, and envelope correlation.
