Abstract :
A planar microstrip-fed antenna is proposed and designed for 2.4 GHz WLAN and ultrawideband (UWB) systems application. The proposed antenna consists of a microstrip-fed line ended with a modified disc with radiating stub on the front side and a rectangular ground plane on the back side. The measured and simulated results confirm that the design offers large bandwidth covering lower band from 2.388 to 2.465 for 2.4 GHz WLAN application and upper band from 3.07 to 11.97 GHz with band-notched characteristic at 5.5 GHz for ultrawideband (UWB) system communication. The measured results show that the proposed antenna is a promising candidate for 2.4 GHz WLAN and ultrawideband (UWB) systems application due to its good performances.
