Abstract :
A novel and versatile uniplanar dual composite right-/-left handed (D-CRLH) microstrip line is demonstrated. The dual behavior is achieved by constructing complementary split ring resonators (CSRR) in series with parallel inductive-capacitive loading on a conventional microstrip line. The main advantage of the proposed D-CRLH microstrip line is the simplicity of the structure, which avoids any need of interconnections and/or any other type of interaction between the conductor strip and the ground plane to create the dual propagation conditions. Thus, the structure can significantly reduce the parasitic effects and losses, making it a suitable alternative for a much broader range of microwave circuit applications than those D-CRLH transmission lines reported so far.
