Abstract :
This paper presents a novel compact pulse generator circuit for applications in IR-UWB systems designed in 130nm CMOS technology. A 10th order derivative Gaussian pulse is generated using charge pump circuits, which consists of a combination of positive and negative edge blocks. The circuit was simulated after layout using LTSpice, and the results show a pulse amplitude of 130mV, with a pulse duration of 220ps, and an average power consumption of 21uW per pulse, respectively, for a PRF of 100MHz/1.3V power supply voltage. The complete circuit occupies a very small area of 25×30um2 (without PAD´s).
