Abstract
Summary form only given. The focus of this forum is successfuly building and managing teams. Building an effective team means dealing with certain inevitable variables which stand as barriers to an efficiently functioning team. Some significant variables to he considered are: handling difficult members, dealing with hidden agendas, building supportive climates, and developing group cohesiveness. Getting a team off to the right start is no easy task. One must consider not only the task ofthe group, but also the relational factors. Certain aspects of competition and cooperation are necessary in corporate teams as they are in athletic teams. Much can be learned jrom winning teams, and certain aspects of their winning effort can serse as a model for those wanting to build any type of successful team.
