Abstract :
While many of the technical foundations of information systems have roots in computer science, this discipline and its application on the job is much broader. Information systems professionals no longer deal exclusively with computer domain experts; they now have to communicate as well with a variety of individuals who come to the table with varying views of the problems they are trying to solve. This idea market session will explore the implications of this changing role for the students of information systems, the courses they take and the instructors who teach them; the technical communication skills and concepts needed to succeed in that role; and the applicability to the training of technical professionals in general.
