Abstract
A region of interest(ROI) algorithm in JPEG2000 coding, with accurate bitrate control in each layer, is proposed in this paper. It permits each ROI to have its individual priority by adjusting the truncating points in Tier2. Truncation point is decided more than once for every codeblock in each layer. The algorithm rearranges the bit allocation among background and ROIs after non-ROI coding while keeping the total bitrate constant. Moreover, it supports dynamic delineation and prioritization of ROIs. The produced bitstream is fully compliant with the JPEG2000 standard one. Experimental results demonstrating the validity of the proposed approach are also presented.
