Abstract
This paper presents a method to monitor audio and video quality in the context of a digital broadcasting network. Because of bandwidth limitations, most existing methods cannot be applied. A method based on the evaluation of several of the impairments typically encountered in digital MPEG audio and video signals is proposed. The method has also been implemented in real time. Performance results in various conditions using the prototype device are presented, as well as various applications.
