  • Abstract
In VLSI layout design, routing of a 3-D channel which has several different terminals in the same column has been the focus of attention. In this paper, we propose a 3-D 5 layer greedy channel router for rectangular channels based on Rivest and Fiduccia´s greedy router. Then using this 3-D router as a procedure, we propose a 3-D 5 layer router for irregular (isoconvex) channels. The proposed algorithm divides a set of nets by the layers of the terminals which occur after the current column, and routes 3-D channels in a column by column manner quickly This paper describes the procedure for rectangular channels, the algorithm for irregular channels, and the results of the simulation experiments conducted
