Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel detection scheme for DS-CDMA. The scheme is a combination of orthogonalizing matched-filter (OMF) and coherent detection with predictive carrier recovery. OMF is a matched filter with an adaptive interference canceller. The interference canceller operates by orthogonalizing the mutual correlation between the codes used in systems. The operation adaptively controls its orthogonalization parameters using only the received signal. The criterion for adaptation is minimizing the average output power subject to a constraint coefficient condition. The algorithm for this criterion is a blind one that does not require any reference signal nor any detected signal, and there is no error propagation. Computer simulations show that OMF is effective in increasing the capacity of DS-CDMA mobile communication systems. It is demonstrated that operations of OMF in the convergent state are the same as that of the decorrelator
