Abstract
The paper describes a risk-based approach for screening, prioritising and timing of maintenance and renewal projects in distribution networks. Various methods/analyses are used for handling different aspects of this planning problem. The overview of the network is achieved through investigation of performance indicators and fault history, and the classification and ranking of relevant projects is done by estimation of remaining lifetime of critical components and evaluation of network status against several qualitative criteria. The result of such a process is a ranked list of maintenance and renewal projects, based on both economical and qualitative criteria
