Development of self-explanation learning environment using the explanation refinement

The majority of us have had the experience of teaching someone. We think that we understand an object better when instructing someone else about it. The act of explaining deepens our own understanding. The purpose of this research is the development of an educational system where explanation is utilized. We suggest a self-explanation learning environment. Because the system gives advice to the learner, the learner deepens her/his understanding. We present the method of refining explanations in the system. We deal with explanation of exercises and explanation of problem solving
