    The chaotic behavior of monthly precipitation time series is investigated using the phase-space reconstruction technique and chaos theory. The precipitation time series of main weather station on the south-to-north transfer via western route in the water-exporting region is studied. Relationship between embedding dimension and correlation dimension is discussed and saturation correlation dimension, minimum embedding dimension are calculated, the result show that the correlation dimension will steady with the minimum embedding dimension exceeding 9, and the saturation correlation dimension is between 1.1 and 1.2, then, the precipitation time series is possibly chaotically, this research result can provides a scientific gist for precipitation forecasting by chaos theory.
