Abstract
This paper proposes a stochastic model to predict cascading line trips. It is our assumption that a "property calibrated" version of this heuristic model is capable of approximately capturing the roles of both static and transient phenomena in propagating disturbances in electric power systems. The paper illustrates the calibration of the model through logistic regression. Potential applications are discussed.
