Abstract :
This paper is devoted to investigate the influence of various soft magnetic materials properties on the electromagnetic characteristics of a switched reluctance machine (SRM). The results obtained by using MATLAB coupled with the finite element software package FEMM related to the average torque, torque-to-weight and iron losses are discussed. The materials meeting the criteria imposed by specifications are then ranked.
