Abstract :
This paper presents the development of a control strategy used to control high power direct-drive wind turbines. A new supervision scheme is proposed for optimal integration of wind energy systems to the grid. For the generator-side converter, control algorithm is developed based on the Field Oriented Control (FOC). Concerning the grid-side converter, Vector Current Control (VCC) was proposed. Control strategy performances are evaluated in terms of accordance with Grid Connection Requirements (GCR) including, low voltage ride through capabilities (LVRT), power limitation and reactive power control.
