Abstract :
In this paper, the author presents what he believes is an expanded, more complete definition of what a collaborative decision support and knowledge management system is and then describes the current effort he is leading to develop such a system. This information is important for two reasons. First, while collaborative decision support and knowledge management systems are the newest, “hottest” focus in the Information Technology (IT) marketplace today, initial implementation of these system are in their infancy with respect to the total capability possible/required. Therefore, any serious attempt to expand and/or explore beyond the bounds of what is currently believe is important in order to stimulate the thinking of others and move forward. Second, at some point it is important to try and implement new concepts, to flesh them out, resolve the concept-to-implementation difficulties and eventually advance the state of the art
