Abstract :
In order to meet the real-time flight monitoring system for fast rendering realistic terrain requirements, a GPU rendering algorithm is proposed. The algorithm has two steps at per frame, the first step is to generate coarse terrain grid by using fixed grid mapping, and calculate refinement depth of each triangle base on the complexity of terrain surface. The second step is terrain rendering, according to the refinement level calculate at first step, choose different levels of grid template stored in the cache to subdivide coarse grid. Finally, combined with satellite photos, we can get high quality three-dimensional virtual landscapes. The result of the simulation shows that the method in this paper is simple to implement and can satisfy the requirement of real-time and reality.
