Abstract :
A new standard of video compressing has been developed by ISO and ITU-T and this standard is known as High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) or H.265. In January 2013, HEVC has received the first approval. By comparison with the predecessors coding standers, HEVC doubles the compression ratio of data with maintains the quality level of video. At the same bit rate, HEVC can provide substantially improved video quality. It can support 819×4320 resolutions and 8K UHD. In this paper, we provide a brief review for HEVC and comparing it with the predecessor video coding standard H.264, notably from the functional sides.
