Abstract :
This paper describes a comparator block fabricated in 0.18um CMOS process. The comparator block composed of transimpedance amplifier(TIA) as a preamplifier and comparator with hysteresis. The regulated cascode(RGC) structure TIA is used as a preamplifier. The measured results provide 79dBΩ transimpedance gain, 148MHz -3dB bandwidth for a 0.5pF photodiode capacitance and 6.3mW power consumption for 1.8V supply voltage. The comparator has been integrated in a core size of only 30 × 35um2. The proposed comparator detect -33dBm optical power from 9A/W avalanche photo diode(APD) responsivity and has 13.65cm of walkerror.
