Abstract
The 2D-to-3D conversion technique plays an important role in the development and promotion of three-dimensional television (3DTV), because it can easily provide 3D program contents. This paper focuses on the real-time autmatic 3D conversion method. Depth map is made by the efficient combination of luminance, color, visual saliency, caption localization and final surface modeling. Then the 2D image is converted to a stereoscopic one by DIBR (Depth Image Based Rendering). The proposed method has been performed on diverse 2D video clips and it has been verified that the 3D perception is stable and acceptable.
