  • Abstract
Sensor nodes located in the vicinity of static sinks deplete rapidly their energy due to higher data relaying load. Consequently, this will result in congestions, data losses as well as a decrease in WSN lifetime. To overcome this problem, the concept of mobile sink was introduced in several works. In this paper, we propose an efficient data collection scheme using mobile sink that moves along a deterministic route and retrieve data stored in rendezvous nodes. To alleviate the problem of data delivery latency, rendezvous nodes move for a definite distance in parallel with the base station, in order to remain the longest possible within the sensing range, and upload the maximum amount of data. Our approach takes also into account the priority of data in the delivery process. Sensitive one has to be delivered first. Our scheme achieve a balance between energy saving and data collection delay.
