Abstract :
This paper presents the architecture and characteristics of a new wireless sensor node within a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), which acts as a Data Acquisition System (DASMote). The node platform was specially designed and developed to comply with three main requirements: low energy consumption, flexibility, as well as high adaptability to a wide range of applications in many domains. In order to test its functionality, the authors designed and developed an interface for environment application. The power consumption efficiency of the proposed architecture compared to commercial alternatives was demonstrated in a controlled laboratory environment.
