Abstract
This paper presents considerations regarding the benefits obtained by implementing traffic control measures on an inter-urban road network. The considerations are based on the results obtained by simulating traffic scenarios on a model road network. These scenarios involve: heavy traffic, over-capacity of the network; medium traffic, under-capacity of the network, but involving an incident. The results obtained are compared with a normal traffic scenario, under the road network capacity and in the absence of any incident. The traffic control measures analysed regarding their results are: ramp metering, variable speed limit, driver information through variable message signs.
