Abstract
This paper proposes energy efficient RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) based 60GHz WLAN(Wireless LAN) discovery for multi-band WLAN, which uses both 2.4/5GHz band and 60GHz band in order to achieve higher spectrum efficiency and power-saving of multi-band WLAN device. The proposed scheme detects 60GHz WLAN coverage by using RSSI of 2.4/5GHz WLAN signals where space and time diversity is employed to improve the false detection performance of 60GHz WLAN coverage. Computer simulation results indicate that RSSI based 60GHz WLAN discovery is feasible and space/time diversity is effective to improve the reliability of 60GHz WLAN discovery.
