Abstract
In the present paper an I-slot loaded rectangular microstrip antenna is designed and analysed where feeding is done by a 50Ω microstrip line. It consists of a rectangular patch with an I-shaped slot on one side of the substrate and partial ground plane on the other side. The substrate used is glass. The proposed antenna is designed by using HFSS simulation tool. This antenna design gives impedance bandwidth of 8.6 GHz operating over a frequency range of 3.7 to 12.3 GHz with VSWR <; 2. The effect of variation in the length of partial ground plane and height of the substrate on antenna bandwidth is analysed. These characteristics make the designed antenna suitable for various C and X band applications.
