Abstract :
Recording of audio/video signals in digital domain is commonly an arduous task. Keeping audio and video synchronized and maintaining the video frames buffers intact for media recording requirements, special hardware as well as software considerations are required. The work presented in this research is application software based on the Window XP Embedded operating system that record video in a digital format through an encoding scheme to a removable flash drive. The main objective of our research paper is to process multiple audio/video channels recording on an embedded processor card. The Digital Audio/Video Channel Recorder (DAVCR) shall record multiple videos in H.264 format on Removable disk or in fixed disk. The advantage of using H.264 compression is that the recorded video file is small in size as compared to the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, having good recording quality and with better compression. The scheme presented in this research paper for digital video recording can be used in many embedded applications like video conferencing, space, avionics and satellite based systems. In the proposed scheme, DAVCR scheme has achieved a significant improvement in rate-distortion efficiency, video quality, compressed video size and recording features relative to existing or past recorders that are based on MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 standards. This article provides a synopsis of the technical features of video recorder, describes profile and applications for the standard, and outlines the history of the standardization development.
