Abstract :
Cost-effective fixed-point digital signal processors (DSP) are widely used in disk drive servo systems. However, the state truncation error (STE) of fixed-point DSP is by far an ignored source of the position error signal (PES). This paper identifies and models the STE as noise sources. Frequency domain analysis leads to some general methods to minimize the effect of STE in PES
