Abstract :
Summary form only given: Design and development of high frequency electronics is an open field in Latin America. High frequency technology is crucial in a wide variety of systems such as communications, signal processing, high frequency instrumentation, etc. In this perspective, we describe efforts for developing high frequency electronics in Mexico. In this paper we describe the design, realization and characterization phase lock loop (PLL)-based, X-band microwave generators, which are fundamental elements in any high frequency electronic system operating in this band. In this paper we describe an X-band (7.2 GHz) generator, which has been designed, realized and characterized in our laboratory using commercial microwave integrated circuits (MMIC´s). The realized X-band generators have been characterized on their parameters of signal purity, phase noise and frequency stability. The resulting performances are comparable to those shown by similar commercial generators.
