Title :
Implementing a more-relevant reliability estimation process, applicable to multiple industries: R3 Estimator
Abstract :
Effective project management, design and manufacturing (plus other areas) require a clear and regularly updated picture of product reliability, and of the issues preventing achievement of associated customer and business objectives throughout development. Reliability prediction is a standard feature of reliability programs, but in practice may have little influence on planning and design. The R3 Estimation process, on the other hand, is based on validated field data analysis and cross-functional team contributions. It allows consideration of down-stream risks in early reliability estimates, and fosters changes to schedule and activity. It thus becomes a project management as well as a design tool, and has been used effectively to focus executive oversight.
