Abstract :
New Web technologies provide many online features for use in a course: interactive demos, exams and self-study quizzes, tutorials, virtual and remote laboratories, distance education, etc. However, are today´s students ready for all this? Most students have been educated in a traditional style for grades K-12: a teacher giving lectures in the classroom, written homework assignments, tests given using pen and paper, and printed textbooks. Most of the current focus on Web-based instruction tends to be on the capabilities and appearances of the new technologies. The focus should be on the learning aspects. Do these new technologies facilitate learning by students? This question is far from being answered
