Abstract
In this paper, a new method of interfacing an optimisation routine with a digital simulator used for simulation of power electronic circuits is presented. This helps the user in arriving at an effective design for a chosen power electronic circuit. The simulation is done using the Advanced Continuous Simulation Language (ACSL). Modeling of power electronic circuit is done using DYMOLA-an object oriented modeling language. In this process, the modeling environment is totally decoupled from the simulation environment, which is state of the art. For a fully controlled rectifier bridge with a two stage filter, the values for filter components are optimised for lower cost against the given design requirements
