Abstract :
Two different chips for image processing have recently been designed at Linkoping University. The PASIC chip comprises a 256×256 array of photo sensors as well as A/D-converters, I/O shift registers, 256 bit-serial processors and on-chip memory. The VIP chip is similar but has 512 more powerful (still bit-serial) PEs and no sensors. Various low-level image- and signal processing algorithms for PASIC and VIP have been tried out
