  • Abstract
    In wavelength-routed optical networks (WRON), the optical signal will pass through various optical devices during the transmission in the optical path. Since there exist no electrical regenerators in WRON, the physical layer damage caused by optical devices will continue to accumulate, which will lead to reduce quality of transmission. In this paper, we propose a fast algorithm for impairment-aware dynamic routing and wavelength assignment (FIRWA), which takes the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) and four-wave mixing (FWM) into consideration. The contribution of this algorithm is to build a partition database called the partition case base (PCB). The PCB can dynamically save and update the paths. which meet the requirements of the quality of service (QoS). So the proposed algorithm can quickly retrieve the known paths based on the previous information. From the simulation result, we can see that the FIRWA has better performance than the traditional impairment-aware routing and wavelength assignment (IRWA).
