  • Abstract
The automatic spell checker tool is one of the most efficient tools of automatic language processing systems. Its performance varies according to the correction mechanisms implemented. The lexis of the automatic spell checker tools represents a main disadvantage. This lexis´ size being often insufficient, we have developed a new approach of automatic spell checker tool targeting misspelled words in Arabic texts. This method is based on a corpus constituted of surface patterns and roots characterized by a scaled down size compared to conventional approaches. Indeed, this new approach can check a set of misspelled words from a single data. The results of this new approach were very satisfactory and complimentary, showing the importance of the developed method and assessing its validity.
